Somebody has to pick up the slack
This will certainly be a great comfort to all good Christians wondering what was to become of their pets after the rapture. Thankfully, atheists are willing to ease their minds. If you're a righteous soul and have no blaspheming friends, one can be had for a price (can't they all). Just click here to make sure fido is fed after Jesus comes to get you.

RIP, Zelda Rubinstein
The surprising star of Steven Speilberg's Poltergeist has died. Zelda Rubinstein was a tiny woman with a huge presence.
She decided to try acting in her 40's and never looked back at her old job as a medical technician. I respect and envy her for that alone.

Peter Parker
Cmon! Everyone is doing it. I thought I might as well add my candidate to the ever-growing list if would be Peter Parker's
Ezra Miller is my choice. He has a recurring role on the USA network's Royal Pains and seems a perfect candidate for the Web-Slinger.
Okay, I've shown you mine... Now. show me yours.

RIP, Robert Parker
Just heard about Robert Parker's death.
Really loved his Spenser series and the movie made from his western novel, Appaloosa is one of my wife's favorites.
Parker died at his desk, which seems to be a fitting end for any writer.
My sincerest condolences to his family, friends and many, many fans.

1001 Posts
I just noticed on my blogger dashboard that my previous post was the 1000th post for this blog. It's really not impressive when you consider that the blog's been up and running for 7 years. What is that, about 142 posts a year? I hope to do better in 2010... We'll see.
Finally got our desktop back and it seems to be working fine.
1001!!

The Long Price Quartet

I just finished reading this series by Daniel Abraham and cannot possibly heap enough praise upon it to actually do it justice. I can only tell you that it is one of the finest fantasy series I have ever read. The characters are vividly portrayed and fully realized; and their story is epic in scope, yet more intimately engaging than anything I've read in years. I was hooked after the first book, A Shadow in Summer, and quickly made my way through the three remaining books.
Abraham has vaulted to the top of my must read list.
Go forth and find these books!

New Year Wishes
Just popping in to send wishes for a New and Improved Year! Let's hear it for 2010!
Maybe I'll finally get a desktop computer and blog a bit more often in 2010. Still waiting for our new computer to get fixed or replaced by ACER... not holding my breath for either.
Let's all hope for a great start for a new decade.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
