Republicans Want That French-Looking Guy and His Fat Friend To Stop All The Personal Attacks.

The Republicans' feelings have been hurt and they think that Senator Kerry has shown his true self by calling them crooks and liars.

Of course, during their trip down the moral high road, one of them felt it necessary to make a comment regarding Ted Kennedy's weight. That seems fair in a political debate.

Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., said Republicans think of Kerry as "Ted Kennedy on a South Beach diet," a reference to the other Democratic senator from the Bay State.

The nastiness is only going to increase as the months wear on, and I am not enthused by all the negativity; but, when people like Sean Hannity and Anne Coulter are out there selling books that equate Liberals with traitors and terrorists, I don't see a pressing need for the Democrats to soften their words for the sake of public discourse.

Still, I hope the issues get more spotlight than the venom.
