...We still are lucky to live in the greatest country in the world. Our problems are many and important to each of us. Still, when you read a story like this one, you have to feel grateful for all the things that this country affords you; you also have to feel some embarrassment about our obesity epidemic. I realize and understand the need for this War On Terrorism, but we also need to lead the world on the small wars that matter just as much... like the war on famine and hunger and intolerance.
If Dennis Kucinich makes no other contribution to the political mindset this season, let the idea of a Department Of Peace no longer be scoffed at and derided as idealistic liberalism. This world we live in is in dire need of just such a thing.
