Newspeak of the B-Vocabulary

Dick Cheney made another photo-op-stop on his whirlwind (no pun intended) tour of the Katrina aftermath; this time, at an emergency management center in Austin, TX.

In an effort to avoid using any words with negative connotations, such as tragedy and major government f**k-up; Cheney resorted to labeling the disaster and resulting rescue, recovery and relief efforts as "the whole Katrina exercise"...

Vice President Dick Cheney visited an emergency management center in Austin, Texas, and said the government was finally gaining control of the situation.

"I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise. We've got a lot of work ahead of us," he said.

Yes, the victims of Katrina will not have suffered/died in vain; thankfully, this Katrina exercise will certainly help the administration be better prepared for future terrorist attacks or natural disasters. I'm sure that, with a few tweaks, political appointments and some curtailment of basic civil liberties; the nation will be stronger for it.

I feel dirty just pretending to spout that crap.
