Bush urged the Republican-controlled Congress last February to approve a constitutional amendment, saying it was needed to stop judges from changing the definition of the "most enduring human institution."
I guess he means that we've already lost slavery and the subjugation of women and children; now you want to give gays equal rights!
Rick Santorum got his manly shorts in a knot and ranted incoherently...
In a strongly worded speech, Republican Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania said some criticism runs along these lines: "Marriage is hate. Marriage is a stain. Marriage is an evil thing. That's what we hear. People who stand for traditional marriage are haters, they're bashers, they're mean-spirited, they're intolerant. ... Well, we're not."
What the hell is he rambling on about? Those who favor same-sex marriage aren't anti-marriage; they just want same-sex couples to be allowed to legally and spiritually make the same loving commitment to one another as all of the heterosexuals are freely allowed to do (for better or for worse). Santorum is trying to hide his homophobic hysteria behind an illusion of tradition.
As Bill Frist vowed to continue the struggle for inequality, the House GOP sought to win the fight in another manner...
The House Judiciary Committee scheduled a meeting for Wednesday on a measure to strip federal courts of jurisdiction over a 1996 federal law that defined marriage as the union between a man and a woman.
Yes, let the legislative branch decide what laws the judicial branch can rule on the constitutionality of; that's a nice precedent to set.
That is enough for now... it is almost 2AM and I am losing coherency.
For now, enjoy this picture from today's antics.
