Matt Drudge has already fired up the personal smear machine against John Kerry. Isn't Drudge afraid he'll peak too soon in his quest to drag this sort of crap into the campaign? He should have saved this for after Kerry gets the nomination. Then again, maybe Drudge is trying to derail Kerry's momentum; he wouldn't want anyone nominated that might defeat Bush in November.
As for the charge, I hope that Kerry's denial is truthful and legitimate. If it were true, I would like to see a candidate just come out and admit it and put an end to the constant rumors. Something like...
Yes, I did have a brief affair and have reconciled things with my wife and hope that my past personal failures have made me a wiser man in the present.
