Today is a Day of Purity for many teens that believe that abstinence is the best policy in response to today's oversexed world they live in. Yeah for them, I say. I'm glad to see that some teens feel this way and congratulate the churches for promoting such attitudes among teens today.
Unfortunately, we know that most teens do not take this position regarding sex. I do not even want to imagine the positions their taking. As Fuel Hormonic Orchestra of life is playing Bolero in their heads, we know that they often make choices without regards to consequences. Since I am the father of a 10 year-old girl, I am an advocate for a sexual education format that includes my dream of abstinence with the reality of a knowledge of adequate and accurate birth control methods.
Unfortunately, George Bush wants to double the funding for abstinence-only education for our kids. $270 million dollars to ignore the fact that most teens will not choose wisely when it comes to decisions of a sexual nature. It is utterly shameful for the President to let his religious leanings influence such an important matter regarding our children's
education and safety. Luckily, my wife and I will explain all the options surrounding such an important decision and hope that she chooses wisely. Also, luckily, my daughter thinks the President is a moron; so it is possible that she will make a good choice.
