Bishop Found Guilty In Hit And Run Death

This guy had just gotten an immunity deal with authorities for his role in protecting priests from child molesting charges. Then, he has the bad luck of running over a drunken jaywalker on his way home from Mass. Although his windshield is spider-webbed with cracks, he claims to not have known he hit a man. If he had known, he would have stopped, or so he says. Of course, his later actions cast doubt on his claims...

But prosecutors argued that O'Brien knew or should have known he hit a person. They pointed to the fact that O'Brien did not call police even after a official in the diocese told him the car may have been involved in a deadly accident.

They also noted that he tried to get the windshield repaired, even knowing police were looking for the car. Detectives tracked O'Brien down at his home two days after the accident

Thank God, he's part of the in-crowd with Mel Gibson; he's gonna make it to heaven.

It's not that I don't believe in forgiveness; I just need some time to reflect and let whomever runs this cosmic carnivale we call life decide how he fits in the big picture.
