Andy Hallett, RIP

I was saddened to learn that Andy Hallett, who played Lorne/The Host on one of my favorite series, Angel, has died of heart failure at the way too young age of 33.

His character, Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan, was one of my favorites on the show and it is all because of Andy's portrayal.

My sincerest condolences to his family friends and many fans.

DVD on demand

Warner Brothers has opened their archives and are now offering made-to-order DVD's for some of their titles that otherwise wouldn't merit a wide release. For $19.95, you can get your own copy of Doc Savage: The Man Of Bronze. The 1975 movie starring Ron Ely (TV's Tarzan) and produced by George Pal, may not have a large fanbase; but it does have fans

You can go here to see if they have anything that might interest you.

This news gives me hope that more studios will follow WB's lead; it could allow all those movies and TV series that aren't in big demand to find a home with those who are fans... like me.

Another Box-O-Books

Wanted to take a moment to thank one of you for the box of books that arrived on Friday. It was chock-full-o Michael Connelly and John D. McDonald novels, plus a few Edgar Rice Burroughs and others for even more fun! You know who you are and your generosity is much appreciated! Thanks!!

Twilight Zone

Just thought I would let you know that Only Child found the Queen album that was pictured in the earlier blog about her new interest in vinyl. This was quite a happy coincidence.

We also caught a $1.50 showing of Twilight at the Cinemark: Movies 8. I am happy to say that it wasn't bad; a bit melodramatic but enjoyable...almost enough to get me to read the book.

Duck and Cover

First, I have a shower!!! It is in and all our books and junk have found their way back to whence they came. YAY!

Second, as I was leaving work today, I found Howard The Duck on DVD for $9.99 and snatched it up with only minor guilt. Anyone reading this blog knows that Steve Gerber is one of my all-time favorite writers, and Howard The Duck, as written by Gerber,
is one of my favorite characters. In spite of the fact that the movie bears little or no resemblance to Gerber's character, I adore the it.

Forgive me Steve.

Shower Stalled

After moving all the stuff that would be in the way of the new tub install. it has yet to be done. There were some mix-ups and other problems that kept them from making it all week. Hopefully, they will be here in the morning to finally do the install. I can't stand having piles of books and such piled everywhere and bookcases and other furnishings accumulating in the living room... I will be happy when everything is once again in the proper place.

UPDATE: Of course, the tub was not installed today...some new f@#k-up on their part; but they swear they will be here in the morning.....Yeah.

In other news, Only Child has been buying 45's to decorate the walls of her bedroom. They must be of singers/bands that she likes of the vinyl era... Billy Joel, Phil Collins, ELO, Styx and such. She has even moved up to albums now; we snagged Billy Joel's The Stranger, Styx' Killroy Was Here and Supertramp's Breakfast In America. She is still searching for the ultimate treasure, anything by Queen. She and I both have decided that it would be cool to get our hands on a record player to listen to her decorations too.

Bath House Blues

Spent most of the evening taking books and such off of the bookcases and coat rack/shoe bench in out hallway. Gotta make way for the guys with the replacement tub for Only Child's bathroom; quite the undertaking. It also makes me realize that the space for books in this house is becoming hard to find... I really don't want to have to start selling them off as I had to do once before. It is the downside of packrat-iness.

Still have more bookcases to go but am quitting for the night...work time is approaching.

G'night.

Mark Update

Yes, I am still out here; just haven't really felt that I had anything to post that anyone would want to read. Work has been stressful the last few weeks with employee interpersonal conflicts and inadequate management.

Finally, put my health insurance to work. Had a check-up and blood work done and have dental and optical appointments set up. I also have a neurologist appointment to find out why my hands tend to fall asleep if I am doing anything from dishes to typing this post for any length of time.

Hoping to see The Watchmen as soon as I can scrape up enough to take Only Child to the IMAX.

Will be back.... hopefully sooner rather than later.
