Money Grab = Power Grab

Sec. 8. Review.Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.

This stunning attempt at unfettered power by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the way the Bush Administration has always sought to rule like a monarchy.

Hopefully, this blatant power-grab is going to be rebuffed and congress will seek a plan for this trillion dollar bailout that will be viewed and reviewed by all sorts of oversight agencies.

Isn't lack of oversight and regulation what got us into this mess? I realize that time is of the essence, but I remember how a rush to pass the Patriot Act ended up handing unconstitutional powers to this administration.

Time is money, but we can't afford to lose a trillion dollars by fast-tracking this bailout.
