A very sad situation

I've been following the story of the lingering illness and recent death of Tom Artis via Peter Milligan's blog. He and Peter created one of my all-time favorite books, Tailgunner Jo for DC back in the 80's. Tom was a magnificent artist and, from Peter's recollections, a great human being. His far-too-short life ended so tragically and left his family financially devastated. If you want to see just how good Tom was, check out some of his work here.

He will be missed.

If anyone reading this post could spare even the smallest amount, please do what you can...

I've been a fan of Tom's since the story he did for Wasteland "Heebie Jeebies". John Ostrander said he came up with the title for the solicitation before the actual story. Also, I had Tom do a sketch of Kei from "Dirty Pair" years ago and have his sketchbook "Midnight High". I just got my check ready to send off.
And I know there ain't, that I'm among friends, but in case there's any Internet busybodies out there wondering why I'm sending a check in my situation, think of this quote: "I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet."
