If we're gonna throw that much cash at them, we better see everyone's breasts!
Did you check out Dumbya's State of the Gulf Coast Address on Thursday night?
You know how it is when you forget your significant other's birthday or your anniversary, and you try to make up for it by buying them something you really can't afford? That is being played out on a billion dollar scale between Dumbya and the Gulf Coast. In an attempt to get people to forget about his administration's fatal shortcomings in the protect and serve department, he has promised to throw as much money as it takes to make you forget Mike Brown's name.
I want to see New Orleans rebuilt and restructured as a city for the 21st century (Can we make it a floating [on air] city? I've always wanted one of those!), but I do not think that the federal government can do the job without massive amounts of waste and graft (paging Haliburton). I would also like to hear a lot more from the affected states about their financial commitment to a safer/sturdier Gulf Coast.
Maybe all states that have lotteries could offer a $5/$10 ticket with several big payoffs, with all of the monies going to the region.
Maybe Louisiana could have a bake sale.
I'm not sure how much should be spent to get Dumbya's poll numbers up, but I would really like to see a non-governmental commission come up with a less vague plan of action. I also would like to demand that Karl Rove keep his chubby little hands off of this project. Karl Rove?! What is his plan for shoring up and rebuilding New Orleans; starting negative rumors about Baton Rouge!?
Just venting and conjecturing.
