It seems that Cookie Monster is getting a dose of PC-cillan and learning to control his cravings for chocolate chip cookies.
I realize that childhood obesity is a growing concern and things need to be done to teach children to make better choices in their diets. Silly me; I thought it was a job for parents and schools to teach these things. No. Cookie Monster must be sacrificed for the greater good.
A spokesman for Sesame Street assures us that Cookie will still scarf his food and occasionally swallow objects... that is, until concern grows regarding proper mastication and other digestive dangers.
I propose that, if they want to tackle the health issues regarding Cookie's habits, they should let him continue binging on those cookies. Over the season, he could grow fatter and fatter. The Count could calculate his weight and cholesterol levels in one episode. The season could end with Cookie's massive heart attack and emergency bypass surgery....will he make it?
That would scare the cookies right out of those chubby little hands!
