A Brief Glimpse Of The Theocracy

I found myself watching Hardball With Chris Matthews (It's like a car wreck; I can't look away) Wednesday night and was stunned but not surprised when Rep. Jeff Miller (R), Florida, slipped up and revealed his allegiance
to the new Republican Theocracy.

Miller was attempting to defend the appalling interference of Congress into the Schiavo tragedy in a debate with Rep. Jim Moran (D), Virginia.

During the course of the exchange, Miller offered up what he thought was an important reason for ignoring Moran's view on anything regarding morality. Here is the excerpt...

MILLER: I think what is important is that you are giving Jim Moran the opportunity to talk about immorality.

MATTHEWS: OK.

MILLER: And this is a gentleman that stands on the floor of the United States House and doesn't even say the words "under God" in the pledge of the United States.
So this is something that we do in fact have constitutional authority to have control over.

(CROSSTALK)

MORAN: He is confusing me with McDermott. Us white-haired Irish guys, they all look the same.

(CROSSTALK)

MORAN: That's not me. It's Jim McDermott that you‘re talking about.

(CROSSTALK)

MATTHEWS: Congressman, let me ask you, what did you just say about Congressman Moran? I want you to repeat it.

MILLER: No, he's right. I did.

MATTHEWS: What did you just accuse him of?

MILLER: And I apologize.

Oops! Miller didn't even have his holier-than-thou facts straight and was attacking the wrong guy. This was a minor glimpse of what the Theocrats of the Republican party think about those that aren't appropriately devout enough or properly indoctrinated into the new church/state that they dream of creating. If you don't recite the pledge with the required mention of God, then you are immediately declared to be lacking any moral authority.

Matthews, in his usual half-assed way, weakly attempted to get Miller to repeat his accusation; but lacked the will to push the issue.

The Schiavo case has forced the right-wing Republicans and the Brothers Dimm (Dumbya and Jebus) to show that their allegiance to evangelicals is more important than their oaths of office.

All of you heathens and members of non-approved belief systems should consider this to be the threat that it so obviously is.
