Iraqi Voting
In spite of how one feels about the legitimacy of the Iraqi invasion and the costs in American lives and American dollars, it is hard not to smile when watching the joy with which the brave Iraqis cast their votes. Whether this election will improve the situation in Iraq or start a new wave of violence and/or a civil war, we will have to wait and see... and hope for the best.
Watching the voters defiantly ignoring the threats on their and their families' lives, it saddens me that so many Americans are so pathetically indifferent to the freedoms they have and the responsibility that they have to vote and take part in their own democracy. In America, weather can keep people from voting.
Shame on all those Americans who fail to live up to their democratic responsibilities.
