Spreading The Bushit About Iraq

Here is some of the Bushit being spread around to make the Iraq fiasco seem like an success...

"If we stop fighting the terrorists in Iraq, they would be free to plot and plan attacks elsewhere, in America and other free nations," he said. "... If we wilt or leave, America’s security will be much worse off."

I, nor any other American, want another attack in our country. Still, this statement seems to say that we will gladly wage war in other countries (not the free ones) to keep the terrorists too busy to plot attacks on our home turf. I'm not sure how this plan sounds to the rest of the world; I don't think the innocents in Iraq think too highly of it. To avoid creating more terrorists than we are killing, I believe the war on terror(ists) should be fought with a scalpel rather than a broadsword.

Of course, that makes me too sensitive in the eyes of Dick the cowardly lyin' Cheney.

President Bush on Thursday shrugged off polls that suggest most Iraqis see Americans as occupiers not liberators. "I saw a poll that said the right track-wrong track in Iraq was better than here in America," he told reporters.

This comment was based on an Iraqi poll that state that 51% of those polled believed the country was headed in the right direction. Again, my question is what direction they are referring to... the insurgency? Other polls (before the handover) showed that a majority of Iraqis were unhappy with U.S. policy and wanted the Americans to leave. When asked about that poll, Dumbya, as usual, passed the buck to Puppet Prime Minister Allawi. In his smug and indifferent handoff to Allawi, Dumbya said...

"Talk to the leader. I'm not the expert on how the Iraqi people think, because I live in America where it's nice and safe and secure. But I'd talk to this man," Bush said.

I think that Dumbya had a similar perspective on the Viet Nam situation during his proud service with the Guard.

Allawi parroted his master and offered a glowing report on Iraq and it's future. Of course, this comes from a man who lives in the Emerald City green zone and avoids most of the messy details that the rest of the population suffers through on a daily basis.

As the promise of the Iraqi elections was played up to anyone listening, even Don Rumsfeld got in on the action...

"Let's say you tried to have an election and you could have it in three-quarters or four-fifths of the country. But in some places you couldn't because the violence was too great," Rumsfeld said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.

"Well, so be it. Nothing's perfect in life, so you have an election that's not quite perfect. Is it better than not having an election? You bet," he said.

Wow. That's exactly how the GOP felt about the U.S. elections in 2000.

Even House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill) got to try his hand at swaggering and Bushitting...

"I promise that as long as George Bush is president and I am speaker of the House, the United States will not cut and run in Iraq. We will stay the course. the cause of peace and liberty in the world..."

You tell 'em, Denny! We all know how important a role the Speaker plays in these matters.
