Scheduling Conflict Moved Up Iraq Handover

The U.S. handover of sovereignty to Iraq was done quietly Monday morning in Iraq.

I'm sure that much speculation will be made of the rescheduling of the event, but I am sure that there is a very simple explanation...

Paul Bremer wanted to get back to the states in time for Spider-Man 2 on Wednesday. He probably thought everything would work out fine when the movie was scheduled to open on July 2nd; but then they moved it up to June 30th and it forced Bremer to speed things up.

This scenario will be denied by all concerned, but I can understand the reasoning and applaud Bremer's priorities.
