This story about the disappearance of actor/writer Spaulding Gray caught my attention because of the headline, but the story I really wanted to know more about is the one behind this...
Armstrong said that the last time Gray and his wife were at their Sag Harbor home was Christmas Day. He said they lived primarily in their Soho apartment and would visit their children in Sag Harbor, where they were cared for by a full-time nanny.
Gray has three children. His youngest is 6, and his oldest child is a 17-year-old daughter.
This info is just odd, at least to me, and I can't even begin to imagine a scenario such as this. The idea of having your children live at another home with their full-time nanny is not one I can get my head around. Basically, the nanny has full custody of the children and the parents visit.... Wow. All the joys of parenting without the annoying downside of having to take care of the children other than financially. Is this just damn freaky to anyone else besides me? I would love to find out the story behind this arrangement and the effect it has had on the children; I can only hope it isn't too damaging.
I guess the rich and famous are even less like me than I thought.
