I am for Gay Unions... Gay Partnerships... Gay Commitments. I believe that gay couples have every right in the world to form legal and spiritual bonds that will grant them the proper legal acknowledgements and rights that other couples have thru marriage. It is a simple matter of human rights. Gay marriage is another thing... let the various religious organizations hold desperately to the sanctity of the term and rituals of marriage. It is a matter of policy/belief, within these organizations, whether they grant and embrace such relationships. If you've read this blog, you know that I am not a big fan of organized religion; but I don't believe the government should involve itself in what is basically a religious issue (the legal issue, yes) any more than religion should be involved in government issues. No matter where you stand on this hotly debated issue, I hope that you all understand just how wrong a Defense of Marriage Amendment to our Constitution is. If not, go here and think about the very bad precedent such an amendment would set.
