I've heard people tell others that, if they ever won the lottery, they would probably die the same day... it is always told as an example of just how bad their luck is. Carl D. Atwood, a 73 year old Indiana man, is now a true incident of such luck.
Or is he? Yeah, it is definitely very sad that the man was struck and killed just hours after he won $57,000 and before he could even spend any of his winnings. Still, he had lived 73 years and, no matter the previous events of his life, he died thinking himself a winner and happily thinking of the future. I believe that one's state of mind at the time of their death is an important thing to consider. He was, probably, very happy before the unfortunate incident. I only hope that his death was swift enough for him not to dwell on the negative aspects of the whole situation. I also hope that his newfound monetary wealth was just a fraction of his, true, personal and spiritual wealth.
Good luck to you, Carl D. Atwood, in whatever waits for you on the other side of this place.
