The whale, made famous by his star turn in the movies and by the massive effort to return him to the wild, has died. My question...Was the Keiko's life improved by his release and could he have lived longer in captivity? It seems that he just kept resurfacing in populated areas and hanging around people; it was all he had known for most of his life. A lot of the animal rights activists believe that it is better for the animal to die than live in captivity; this may be a moral stance, but it still seems damn sad. I'm not trying to start some sort of flame war; just curious.
